At the Mission Planning Meeting last Sunday it was decided that, as a congregation, we would look to increase our support for Operation Christmas Child run by Samaritans Purse. There are various ways we can support Operation Christmas Child and some handouts have been given to you in the current newsletter, outlining what is already being done and other support opportunities available.
One specific action agreed at the meeting was, that as a group we would look to fill and donate 10 – 15 shoe boxes to Operation Christmas Child. The idea is tat over the next five weeks, commencing on August 30, we would collect items for inclusion in the shoe boxes and then gather on a Saturday in early October (date TBA) to pack the shoe boxes as a group.
This is a great opportunity to help a worthy cause that benefits children who have very little. Everyone is encouraged to help, as and where they are able. Please continue to pray for the success of Operation Christmas Child.

Plans are underway to celebrate the International Day of Peace as the Interfaith Prayer Service at Parramatta Mission. People representing fourteen different faiths and cultural backgrounds will offer prayers for peace and harmony.
You are cordially invited to this Peace service which will be held on Monday 21st of September at 2.00 pm at the Fellowship Centre (next to the historic Leigh Memorial Church and a stone’s throw distance from the Parramatta train station), 119 Macquarie Street, Parramatta. Refreshments will be served after the service.
At a time when there is so much discord among people of different faiths resulting in disharmony and violence, this service offers people of different faith to come closer to look at humanity’s common longing for peace, and work for a harmonious community.
Our Church is very fortunate to have so many volunteers to carry out the many duties that are required to keep our Church functional. Your work is very much appreciated! Synod has brought to the attention of Church Council that each Church must ensure that all their volunteers MUST sign a “Volunteer Agreement”. By signing the Agreement you will be covered by insurance should you accidentally incur an injury. Duties include all that are listed on the duty roster plus any other work you volunteer to do on the premises.
Please ask Neva for a form and upon completion you may return it to Neva, Norm Johnson or Trevor Smith.
