Once again you are invited to join the movement of people that is Lent Event as we approach the end of week 4. Our Bible Studies are progressing well with two groups running. There are still study books available for those who would prefer to study at home. For those who have made a personal sacrifice, however small, we wish you courage and strength to continue.
Envelopes and money boxes are still available if you need one for contributions. May our worship, study, reflection and prayer during the 40 days guide us to build genuine connections with our overseas church partners, and journey with them into a future of hope.
Our Maundy Thursday service will be at 7.30pm on Thursday 2nd April, and will be a time of reflection on the Easter message.
Our Good Friday service will be at 9.00am and our Easter Sunday service at the usual time of 9.30am.
During Holy Week, several performances of Pergolesi’s “Stabat Mater” will take place in St Andrews Chapel at UTC in North Parramatta at 8pm on Monday 30th March, West Epping Uniting Church at 7.30pm on Tuesday 31st March, and St Matthews UC at Baulkham Hills at 7.30pm on Thursday 2nd April.
The music is a musical adaptation of a 13th century Hymn to Mary, focusing on her sorrow as Jesus is crucified. Performers include student minister Claire Wright (Soprano) and Radhika Sukumar-White (Alto). You are most welcome to attend any of the performances. Tickets are $15 at the door and proceeds are going towards causes nominated by each venue. Details of times and locations are on the flyer on the noticeboard.
Blacktown Uniting Church are collecting goods to help refugees who are settling in our area. These are families with children who will be released from detention but have nothing. We have been asked if we can help by providing linen, towels, blankets, household items, furniture of all descriptions including beds, wardrobes, cots, TV’s etc and clothing of all types and all ages.
The items can be taken to Blacktown Uniting Church or you can ring the church on 9831 4121 or the minister Rev Liva Tukutama on 0407 919 415.
West Epping UC invite you to hear the Hon. John Watkins on Thursday 12th March at 7.30pm. He will be speaking on the topic ‘Alzheimer’s Disease – the effects to families and communities’. John Watkins was the Member for Ryde in the NSW Parliament and was very active in his support for the local area. On leaving parliament in 2008, he became Chief Executive Officer of Alzheimer’s Australia NSW.
This is a great opportunity to gain some current information about this debilitating disease, and the evening would be suitable for family members who are affected by Alzheimer’s, parents, professionals working in the community and any interested people.
A donation of $10 is suggested with proceeds going to Alzheimer’s Australia NSW. A light supper will be provided after the talk. Please direct any enquiries to firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 9868 3574.
